VH SADDLES

Freedom to Move!
Picture
Horses just LOVE the VH Saddles!

The soft, flat, generous panels and wide channels provide supreme comfort and freedom for the horse. This allows their hindlegs to swing through, their backs to lift and results in an incredible feeling for the rider.

They are a close contact saddle, with extremely comfortable seats and narrow twists with the flaps and skirts covered in hide giving superb grip.

The exquisite craftsmanship of the VH Dressage and Show Saddles is second to none. They are made in England by saddlers who are members of both The Society of Master Saddles and The Guild of Master Craftsmen. The quality is superb and the attention to detail impressive.

RRP - $4950.00 (as of 1/9/2020) . An absolute bargain price for such amazing, individually custom made quality saddles. Occasionally there are small additional costs depending on requests such as Swarovski crystals or major pattern changes. Please contact us for more information.

VH SHOW SADDLE

VH Show Saddle
VH Show Saddle
The VH Dressage Saddle has external knee rolls which are placed perfectly for each rider to achieve their ideal riding position and biomechanics.

The knee rolls can be ordered in whatever length and position required to offer just the right amount of support without being restrictive in anyway.

An extremely close contact saddle allowing the rider to really feel the horse move underneath them and to communicate their aids effectively.

The VH Show Saddle features changeable knee rolls underneath a beautiful padded flap. Five different knee rolls are available varying in height, width, length and shape.

A fantastic saddle for young horse riders or those who do pole or bush work as well as their dressage or showing. The knee rolls can be moved forward when riding shorter or back when riding longer to ensure the rider's hip and knee joint angles are correct for the activity they are doing.

Features of VH Saddles

Seat Size
All VH Saddles are available in sizes from 15.5” to 18.5".

The seat size is to suit the rider but the horse or pony's saddle platform area must be taken into consideration. If you are a tall rider on small or short backed horse or pony then it is better to ride in the seat size that you need and to have the back gussets of the saddle made shorter to prevent the saddle from extending too far caudally on the horse or pony’s back.

Flaps
The flaps on the VH  Saddles can be made shorter or longer than the standard length to maximise rider comfort for longer legged rider or to ensure correct communication of the aids for shorter legged riders. Trial saddles are of standard dimensions and are used as base for any alterations in this area.
The flaps may also be made slightly more forward cut if the rider has a particularly long leg or is limited by the conformation or their horse or pony for seat size.

Knee Rolls
The specially designed knee rolls on the VH  Saddles are positioned for optimal rider biomechanics. Occasionally a rider will need these at a slightly different angle or made shorter which is easily assessed at the time of ordering.
The knee rolls on the VH Show Saddles are attached with Velcro underneath the top padded flap so riders can adjust the position of these at any time.
This is a fantastic option if a young rider is likely to remain on a pony for several years whilst growing. By changing the knee rolls as the child grows, their length of leg can be accommodated without compromising the angle of their hip and knee joints hence always allowing a correct and effective position.  Five different knee rolls are available, all varying in depth, length and shape from long, deep, straight knee rolls to shallow tear drop shaped knee rolls.

Adjustable Tree
The tree is made from layers of laminated birch plywood with sprung steel. The standard sizes are Narrow, Medium, Medium/Wide, Wide, Extra Wide and Super-wide, and can be made to profile if necessary. The trees are adjustable by a qualified saddle fitter to one size in or out from their original size up to 4 times in their life.

Girth System
A point and V-web system is used for maximum stability both laterally and longitudinally on the horse. It helps equalise the pressures applied by the girth to the back of the horse. Alternate girthing systems are available if requested and are available to try on one of the trial saddles.

Channel width
The width of the channel is wider in VH  Saddles than most saddles currently available. This ensures no pressure is placed on the horse's spine. There is also the opportunity to have changes made in this area if your horse or pony requires an even wider channel.

Type of panels
All VH  Saddles have fantastic, soft, wide, flat panels to allow a very close and secure contact between the rider and horse whilst maintaining maximum comfort. The conventional panels as in the trial saddles will suit the vast majority if horses but some, such as those with marked atrophy behind their shoulders from long-term ill-fitting saddles may benefit greatly from drop down panels. Your saddle fitter or Dr Victoria Hamilton will be able to advise you more closely on this.

The panels are flocked with pure, white wool. Synthetic wool can be used if requested.

Front gussets
These can be added when the saddle is being made and make it possible to add more flocking to the front of the saddle. They can be whatever depth and length necessary to perfectly balance the saddle and allow additional flexibility for changes in the horse's shape. The balance of the saddle is not only important for rider position but also for stability of the saddles, especially in very wide horses, horses with low withers and those built downhill.

Back Gussets
There are four standard back gusset options.
1) Standard extended back gusset for maximum stability where room allows
2) Standard extended back gusset with a raised stitch-line to alleviate potential pressure points
3) Straight back gusset for short backed horses
4) Straight back gusset with a raised stitch-line
Gussets can also be made deeper or more shallow if necessary, depending on the horse's conformation.

VH Baroque Saddles do not have back gussets allowing the back panels of these saddles to round upwards. This avoids pressure on the backs of horses with extremely short backs and often highly developed lumbar muscles. An absolutely fantastic option for many welsh cobs!

If preferred, the flaps and skirts may be made out of buffalo hide.
