Where it all began
As a veterinarian, international competitor and dressage coach, Dr Victoria Hamilton has always been fascinated by how riders and saddles can directly and indirectly impact the horse’s natural movement. She believes everything possible must be done to maximise the comfort of horses and allow them to move freely under saddle. In order to improve the well-being of her own performance horses and retain the natural beauty of their movement whilst being ridden, Victoria was driven to find a better solution in saddles. Dissatisfied with the options available on the Australian market, Victoria used her vast knowledge of equine anatomy and rider biomechanics to research and develop a range of dressage and show saddles that are fully customisable for both horse and rider. And so VH Saddlery was born.
Recognising all riders have different preferences, with both horses and riders having unique needs when it comes to a saddle, after stringent testing and quality control, Victoria later began importing the Ryder and Discovery Saddlery ranges and most recently the Max Benz One and Jeffries saddles. By offering the five brands of saddles, which include a range of dressage, jump and all-purpose saddles, Victoria is confident VH Saddlery can find the perfect saddle for all horses and riders. |
VH Saddlery is committed to improving the lives of all horses, and helping riders to achieve their dreams, regardless of aspiration or ability.
Victoria finds great pleasure in helping nervous riders to feel more secure, elite riders to experience the feeling of their horses natural and powerful movement beneath them, empathic riders just looking to find a saddle that is comfortable for their horse, and all riders who simply want to improve their own riding and reach their personal goals.

DR Victoria Hamilton
Dr Victoria Hamilton is an icon in the Australian Equestrian Community, with a wealth of experience as a veterinarian, coach, breeder and international dressage competitor. As one of Australia’s top dressage riders, her love of horses is contagious and apparent in everything she does.
Victoria has trained and competed throughout Australia and overseas, winning numerous State and National Championships. She won two Australian World Challenge Finals (with Ardito in 1998 and Asaachen in 2000), two Australian Dressage Leaderboard Titles (with Asaachen in 1998 and Kaduso in 2002) and was the runner-up in the World Final of the PSI/FEI World Dressage Challenge in Germany in 2001, which she says is the highlight of her competition career so far. She continues to breed, train and compete top-level dressage horses, with a team of young horses currently coming into the competition arena showing unlimited potential.
Victoria toured Australia for many years conducting clinics and coaching riders of all ages, abilities and ambitions. She was the WA State Young Rider Dressage Coach in 1998-1999 and 2004-2005, founding the WA Dressage Young Rider Association (WADYRA) in 2006, where she coached until resigning in 2017 to focus on competing. Victoria continues to conduct workshops, demonstrations and lectures throughout Western Australia, and provide private lessons at her property in Sawyers Valley and on-line throughout the country.
Having bred and trained many horses through to FEI level, caring for them in their retirement, Victoria really understands the changing requirements of horses throughout their lives. She has a unique and extensive knowledge of equine anatomy and rider biomechanics, which she uses to maximise horses and rider comfort, feel, effectiveness of aids and overall performance of both rider and horse performance. She believes it is the duty of the rider to ensure maximum comfort for their horse and retain the beauty of its natural movement under saddle. This belief drove her to developing her own line of saddles, and VH Saddlery was born.
